They are the defining factors for the common direction of industries, and there is no solid rule on their time frames neither a tenet on more than one trend offered at one time. It affects every level of the trading techniques and strategies, including the approach on trade shows. Generally, going with trends trade shows diminishes risks and augments potential gain, as it goes along with what is in demand and what buyers are looking for at that particular period of time.
Globalization has unlocked the doors to fresh and extended trends trade shows around the world, with notable increases in sections of the Asian marketplace. Corporate events such as organizational fund raisers, networking, and many others in recent years have released competition with trade shows, thus making it more essential for the various industries such as automotive, textile/apparel, telecom/IT, toys/children’s products, and others, to create impressive trends trade shows that goes beyond the normal appeal levels of conventional trade shows to the buying market.

Trends trade shows organizers and exhibitors are maturing and transitioning focus. From the little to the foremost show exhibitors have concentrated on trend selling and specializing, to better compete with the rapidly growing market trends, technology, and industry economics. Manufacturers and companies are even getting the help of outside specialists to handle part or the entire show task, to keep up with the standards of trends trade shows.

However, all through the years, the ever-changing trends have threatened conventional trade shows. With the popping up of technological trends such as the Internet, which has brought trade shows online reaching far more buyers from all over the globe, has made a big impact on lessening the popularity of the more expensive customary trade shows. Just as the Internet has stunned industries from music to newspapers, it has now made impressions in the eighty-billion dollar trade show industry.

Nevertheless, trends trade shows still position an industry’s competitiveness and ultimate exposure at the top. Being able to actually touch, learn, see and discover the hottest products, as well as get a glimpse of the potentially profitable products of various industries, along with meeting the people that makes it possible and connecting personal contacts, make trends trade shows very attractive to prospective buyers. The events may be expensive to produce but they definitely provide straightforward feedback measurements and solid leads, which is ‘gold’ to every industry’s marketing approach.

Not Just for Tradeshows

The tradeshow is often the bastion of free hand outs. This is where companies go if they want to give out things for free that have their company name all over it.
You can’t help but get a whole slew of interesting little freebies when walking down the rows at various tradeshows. Every each show I’m sure most companies are looking around for something they can hand out. They vary greatly from the standards of pad printing to the odd ball little toys a company conjures up to make a name for themselves.

But why do these things have to be limited to special events? Why can’t you always have some of them on hand and ready to pass around when the time is right? There are so many different occasions when you can hand something to someone for free, and guess what, if they aren’t expecting it you can make that much better of an impression.

I think that is a very important part of this to consider. At a tradeshow people know they’re going to walk away with a lot of stuff for free. If they don’t they’ll certainly be upset, and because they’re expecting things, it really doesn’t make a big impression on them. That’s why companies try to find the weird stuff to pass around so that they’ll be remembered.

In every day life I’m not thinking that someone will walk up to me with a free item on their hands to give me. When I visit an office I’m not expecting to get anything, and that’s why I’m so surprised when I do get handed something.

Get a lot of pad printing done so that you always have notepads around the office. Now, when someone is there and they need to make a note hand them the pad. Tell them to keep it. Not only are they now able to write down what they need to, but they get a free notepad in the process.

They’ll both remember you because of it, and walk away with the notepad in tow to help them further remember you months down the line. I’m sure you can think of a bunch of different good opportunities to give something away for free. Even if we’re just talking about a pen with your name on it, that’ll often be enough.

A lot of marketing is about giving people something they weren’t expecting. If you can surprise them into having interest in you, than you’ve made it past the natural defenses we build up against advertising.

The less someone is expecting, the more you can surprise them by going above and beyond what they were looking for. There’s no reason to save all of your handouts for tradeshows. You’re surrounded already by chances to spread your name with a well-timed handout.

Tradeshow Preparations

The problem with tradeshows, and really with going out of town anywhere, is that you’re naturally divided from your primary resources. When things potentially go wrong you don’t have easy access to the best way to solve things.
This means you have to do everything you can to be sure that you’ve planned for a variety of different issues. Of course, you can never plan for all of them, because until you know what’s going to happen next that just isn’t possible.

Instead you set up a system that allows you to handle a number of different problems just in case they happen, and that gives you the ability to take on the surprises without missing a beat.

Take for instance any marketing material that you might accidentally leave behind. A tradeshow without marketing material is a tradeshow with a lot of missed opportunities. However, if you want to be sure this never happens to you there are two easy steps to take.

The first is by having all of your marketing material on a disc so you’ll have back ups of the designs. The second is by being aware of any kind of printing company you can make use of in the city your tradeshow is at. I’d call ahead too to make sure you can get your orders done quickly. Now you’ve set up a safety net for when those various copies potentially get left behind.

Something else to consider is getting some label printing done ahead of time. What this does is gives you a nice way of making sure your brand name and logo is on anything you want.

Consider if you were intending to hand out some free staplers and accidentally leave them behind. Getting a number of replacements staplers might be a little pricey, but you should be able to do it with relative ease even on short notice. But getting those same staplers with your logo on them as well? That might take a lot longer.

Well, with label printing you can just get the staplers and then use the labels to ensure your company name is still on them. This might not be the most technologically advanced way of going about it, but you’ll still be able to hand people something for free that has your company name on it, so you don’t have a complete loss.

You need to be sure that you’re ready for anything that might come up. I gave one example where label printing can be put to good use, and there are a variety of different ways you can make use of them.

Trade Show Video Displays

The best way to build traffic at your display and to generate interest for it would be to get creative. Extremely eye catching attention garnering trade show video displays are those are generally hung high for maximum visibility. Gobo lights that travel across the span of a tension fabric can work as remarkable video displays. They can also beam company logos and can even be made to change colors in coordination with the company colors. It can generate instant recognition and have higher recall value.

Modern technologies can provide high drama to your exhibition booth such as even three dimensional video displays. Lasers are other ways of creating enthralling trade show video displays. Three dimensional video displays are increasingly popular as they can help you make your display more interactive. You can even put up your interactive website on a large screen display. You can choose from a multitude of displays that use holographics, water screen projection and even robotics. For example companies like Sony or Samsung always have extremely techno savvy video displays that garner a lot of attention. If you are looking for an inexpensive or more cost efficient way of managing a video display for your exhibition you could opt for a laptop display. You could load your video on your laptop and could run it directly from it or with a projector for larger visibility and hence better reach.

Trade show video displays are fast gaining major popularity and seem to be the next best way of trade show display.

Discount Trade Show Displays

If you are looking to put up a cost effective trade show exhibition or if you are in the midst of preparing for one of your first trade shows, it would be best if you opt for a discount trade show display. Trade shows are one of the best sales devices that can be used effectively to make your business grow. Often new businesses are not strong enough financially to pay out a huge amount for expensive trade show displays. Opting for a discount trade show display is always a good idea for such firms. A discount trade show display does not have to mean that you go in for a self made display. What you can do is look for professionals who can make cost effective trade show displays that are well in your budget.

Second hand displays are always a good idea as you can get them for a discount cost. These used displays can be easily modified and made to fit your requirements. Also, if purchasing the trade show display would be a difficult for you, then you should ideally consider opting for a rental display for the trade show. You can even go in for a pooled effort with someone else who is also participating in the show in order to share expenses.

You can in fact find a number of companies that specialize in discount trade show displays. It is difficult for new businesses to splurge large sums of money on tradeshows. However, at the same time, the company needs to participate in the shows so as to expand. The best option for such companies is to opt for a discount tradeshow display.

With a little research on manufacturers and with some well thought out purchase decisions it is easy enough to get a trade show display that come at a good discount and thus you can land yourself a good deal.

President, Professional Exhibits & Graphics

Trade Show Success Tip: Train Your Exhibiting Staff
One of the keys to trade show success is the training of your booth staff. Each trade show requires a specific marketing message targeted to a unique prospect and an exhibiting staff that can communicate with that audience. In order to take advantage of your trade show appearance, it is crucial to have a knowledgeable, qualified and highly trained sales staff at your trade show booth.

Before the trade show, rehearsals and training sessions for your exhibiting staff are essential to maximize the leads and visitor sales potential at a trade show.

Here are the basic tips for grooming your exhibit staff: 1. Hire an exhibit staff trainer before the trade show 2. Have a trainer in the booth to set up procedures and monitor booth activity 3. Provide incentives (to stimulate tradeshow booth traffic, give a gift coupon out every hour) 4. Be good custodians of your (and your visitors') time. Proactive learning on how to engage and courteously dismiss visitors in a professional manner is critical 5. Staff the tradeshow booth with personnel who match up well with prospects – i.e., engineers from your firm if prospects are engineers, etc.

There are basic “do’s” that attract attention: 1. Have a warm smile and a welcoming persona 2. Enthusiastic behavior -- have direct eye contact, confront prospects by greeting, then engaging, and, finally, qualifying them 3. Be professional and courteous, have authority and a solid knowledge about your product or service 4. Treat visitors as they are your guests--same as you do at your company or in your home 5. Demonstrate a receptive body language -- have your arms under control and your posture erect. Be proactive. 6. Trade Show Booth housekeeping-–maintain a neat, clean and tidy appearance at all times 7. Your name badge should be on the right side of your body so when you shake hands people see it clearly.

Here are some “don'ts” in your trade show booth: 1. Do not eat, drink or chew gum 2. Do not make or accept phone calls (leave the tradeshow booth to make calls) 3. Do not sit - (except in conference area of your tradeshow display to conduct client business) 4. Show up on time -- Do not show up late. Be considerate of your booth mates 5. Never leave the tradeshow exhibit unattended 6. Don't visit socially in the tradeshow booth with your co-workers or neighboring booth staffers

Engage visitors with effective sales techniques and tactics: 1. Greet and engage prospect or client (30 seconds) 2. Probe prospect with questions memorized from a lead sheet - who, what, why, when, where-- to determine their requirements and their timing. This is the positioning and pre-qualifying stage - (1 1/2 - 2 minutes) 3. Determine if the tradeshow prospect is qualified or not. If not, professionally dismiss them. 4. If they are qualified - go into a demonstration, lead to deeper dialogue, answer questions, present details on services/products (up to 5 minutes) 5. Get permission to proceed or get deeper into subject or schedule further dialogue 6. Wrap up - inform them of where you go from here. Move toward the future appointment or sale. Set a time to reconnect. Swipe badge or get their business card. Plan to follow up by sending materials to their office so that the package is there when they return to their desk immediately after the trade show.

Tradeshow Success Tip: Build A Dramatic Display

You are about to mount a major product introduction at the industry’s premiere trade show. The company wants to make a dramatic statement, and you want to own the exhibit hall floor with a creative, custom-built exhibit.
Truly the status trade show exhibit, the custom booth can be virtually anything you want it to be. As the term implies, the exhibit is custom-built to the trade show exhibitor’s exact specifications. You have a clean slate to capture the drama of your firm’s breakthrough product offering and you get to dazzle the visitor and out-perform the competition. With a custom-built trade show booth, there are virtually no limits to design, graphics, materials, size, elevation or AV components. The traditional custom trade show exhibit is the "piece de resistance" of the trade show display product field, where an exhibitor is willing to create high drama and powerful imagery for the sake of a truly powerful impact. Allow enough time to start from scratch to deliver the exhibit that will have award-winning potential. Understand the trade show schedule and allow four to six months for a large custom build and six weeks to 12 weeks for a mid-size island or smaller. One thing you will have to prepare for with the custom display is the cost. It is the most expensive to produce and has the highest operating costs due to size and number of packing crates.

If cost is the dominate concern, consider a custom modular exhibit that offers high quality exhibit imaging without the higher operating costs of custom displays. Modular construction takes advantage of a large inventory of interchangeable pre-designed and engineered components such as back walls, counters, display pedestals and exterior panels. Lightweight structural materials such as aluminum, Plexiglas and high-grade tension fabrics provide simplified assembly, space-saving packing and often 400% lower shipment and handling costs. The flexible design trend display components allow you to reconfigure the design or size of your trade show booth from tradeshow to tradeshow. Custom modular tradeshow exhibits offer design and image quality with substantial savings in operating costs due to less weight and size and number of shipping containers.

Another option is the portable system that offers trade show display versatility. Lightweight portable exhibits are ideal for trade show exhibitors who require ease of use and a variety of display configurations while presenting a distinctive creative image. Easily set-up, the portable system has a skeletal frame with attachable laminate panels, which simply clip together in virtually unlimited structural styles. Accessories such as bridges, counters, alcoves and backlighting enhance versatility of the interchangeable portable systems. The trade show portable systems can convert from tabletop to island exhibits in minutes and adapt to almost any trade show display situation with minimal effort. Usually your own booth staffers can transport and assemble the exhibit themselves saving time and the added costs of drayage and contract workers. Portable displays are an especially suitable option for the first-time trade show exhibitor and for appearances at smaller, regional trade shows.

Pop up Trade Show Displays

If you are looking to participate in a tradeshow, then you will surely have to shop for some tradeshow supplies. If marketed improperly, even the best of products will not be able to obtain maximum sales. Before we start buying trade show displays and tools, make sure you know everything about the trade show. If theyre using a particular theme, make sure your display will be designed accordingly. If the trade show hall has a particular motif, make sure your display would be enhanced by the surrounding colors, instead of clashing horribly.

1. What are your objectives and what is your budget?

What do you want to accomplish? How can the trade show display help you accomplish your objectives? How much budget do you have for your display? Determining your objectives and budgets will help prevent you from spending more than you should.

2. Booth styles

Popular PopUps

Pop-ups are the most commonly used trade show displays. There are many advantages to enjoy when you make use of pop-ups:

First, theyre affordable; that makes them a good choice for small to medium-sized companies who dont have extensive budgets set aside for trade show exhibits;

Secondly, theyre very easy to set-up; you dont need to hire a crew of specialists, technicians or artists to manage your trade show display;

Thirdly, theyre available in a wide variety of designs, fabrics and colors; your creativity will shine more brightly when you make use of pop-ups.

Fourthly, theyre both durable and require limited space.

Simple but Beautiful Panels

Panel displays are ideal if the products youre exhibiting are heavier than usual; with the right choice of quality and countertop design, panel displays will bring more elegance to your trade show. Panel displays are more suited for shows that exhibit computers and other expensive electronic gadgets and appliances.

3. HighEnd Modular Exhibits

If you want a trade show that shows more oomph without causing you to go over your budget, youll do probably well with modular exhibits. Such trade show displays commonly make use of expensive materials and are also able to bear the weight of heavy products and merchandise.

4. Be Bold with Truss Displays

If you want your trade show display to immediately catch the attention of people, you should make use of a truss system for your exhibit. Truss systems also make it easier for you to mount lighting and other equipment to obtain the intended tone and atmosphere for your booth. Because of the easy mounting and installation of lights and LCDS, they can create great visual impact, and that will work definitely to your advantage if your clients are expecting to be dazzled.

5. Personalize It

There is no limit when it comes to customized trade show displays. Anything that your creativity and imagination can produce will be made real, but be prepared for sky-high expenses. Customized trade show displays are the best option for large companies who can afford to pay for them. They may be necessary, however, for companies that are exhibiting larger than usual merchandise like engines, motors, and vehicles of all types.

6. Display without a Frame

Frameless trade show displays are actually a type of panel display; this time, a bendable plastic panel is used to create a stand-alone structure. Any experienced individual will be able to set up a frameless trade show alone because it only makes use of lightweight materials and the installation process is generally easy. Frameless trade show displays work well with paintings and any lightweight object that can be hung; they do not work at all for heavy merchandise or anything that must be displayed.

7. Pipe It and Drape It

Lastly, we get to the trickiest of the batch. Pipe and drape trade show displays are a bit complex to set up. Fabric drapes are clipped onto pipes with this type of trade show display. They do however serve as very great backdrops and can produce startling visual effects, given the right color, fabric and design.

The Benefits Of Renting A Trade Show Display

Trade shows can be a great way to win new business, make new contacts and unveil new products to the marketplace. Exhibiting at a trade show means you are going to need to a trade show display to attract attention and showcase your company and products. The benefits of renting a trade show display, instead of purchasing one, can be numerous for small businesses or start-ups attending their first trade show and large businesses looking to increase interest at their next show. Below are some of the reasons why renting a trade show display is a good idea.

Convenience
The convenience that renting a trade show booth provides, as opposed to buying one, can be one of the most important factors in one’s decision to rent. Renting a booth for your first few trade shows will allow you to get a feel for these shows and how much money you may be able to make by attending them. You don’t want to make a big investment in a trade show display only to find out that the trade show scene is not for you. Using a rental gives you the impact of having a customized trade show display and the convenience of not having to commit to a specific format.

Flexibility
Renting a trade show display also offers flexibility. Renting allows you to customize your display for every trade show that you attend. If you used a format that you did not care for, then for the next trade show choose a different format – the only thing you need to do is purchase the graphic panels for the new trade show display configuration.

Display rental also gives you the opportunity to experiment with the size of your trade show booth without worrying about making a big investment in a booth that may not suit your needs from one trade show to the next. You can also try out the different types of displays available, such as a pop-up displays, to see which one is easiest for you to set up and break down.

Basically, renting allows you to experiment with many different aspects of your trade show display, so that you can get a feel of what is right for you. Maybe, once you know what you want, you will then want to buy a trade show display of your own or maybe you will enjoy the flexibility of renting so much that you will continue with that option. Either way, renting, instead of making a big initial investment, will allow you to know for sure where your preferences lie.

Additional Options
Renting a trade show display may be the way to go if you are looking to augment your current trade show format. With add-ons such as literature racks and banner stands, a trade show booth can offer more visuals than just what is on the display itself. If you have a large booth space and you want to manage traffic or provide additional information, renting a display is a good choice. This can help you expand your trade show booth to create a larger, more dynamic selling environment. Plus, if you are rolling-out a new product and you don’t want to redo your main display you can feature the product on a rental display.

Cost-Effectiveness
If you are promoting a small business or start-up, then renting may be the best option for you since you may only attend a few shows a year. If you were to buy, the investment you would make would largely eat into whatever profits you earn for the year from the few shows that you do attend. Until you attend trade shows on a more regular basis, renting a trade show booth may be the most cost-effective way to go.

Considering all of these great benefits, it is easy to see why one would want to rent a trade show display, rather than purchasing one themselves. Whether you are an individual, small business, or a large company, renting a trade show display can offer you advantages that you would not otherwise have with your own display.

A Trade Show Display That Can Stand Alone

One of the best places to gain customers for your business is to attend trade shows and promote your business there. What you do and how your display looks at the trade show can either make or break your business, so here are some tips for how to make sure your appearance at a trade show is a profitable one.

Get the visitors’ attention

The first thing that you are going to want to do is to make sure that your potential customers can see you and know that you are there. Here are some things that you will want to do to get their attention.

1. Make your booth attractive – Use bright cheery colors so that your customers see you, and you are able to make a good first impression. Have your displays professionally printed so that they look great and you feel great showing them off.

2. Contact your customers – Let any current customers know that you will be at the trade show and invite them to stop by. Giving them this extra call makes them feel valued and as a consequence you are more likely to gain clients through referrals.

3. Plan ahead – Give yourself plenty of time to know what you want to promote, what you are going to offer and plan how you will present this to your prospective customers. Don’t go there thinking that you are going to make it up as you go along, because that just won’t work.

Be available

Make sure that someone is always there to answer questions at your booth. It’s always good to have an assistant with you so that the booth is always manned. This way if one of you has to leave, there is someone there for backup. Some other things that you should remember are:

1. Don’t eat – Don’t eat while you are standing at your booth, because you might give customers the impression that you are on break or unavailable. If you want to get something to eat, do it away from your booth and leave your assistant to stay at your booth.

2. Don’t chat with your assistant – If people see you chatting with the other people who are a part of your booth, they aren’t going to interrupt. They will simply avoid your booth altogether.

3. Turn off your phone – Before you go to the trade show, change your phone to voice mail. This way you are available during the trade show to the customers who are there to see your company.

4. Dress accordingly – Wear shoes that are going to be comfortable, because you can’t concentrate if you are in pain. Be sure to wear attire that is consistent with your business and the model you are trying to promote.

Be considerate

Be considerate of your customers when they approach your booth. If you are too forceful, you are going to drive them away. Here are some tips for dealing with your customers at a trade show:

1. Give them space – Don’t pounce on them. Allow them time to browse through your information and greet them with a smile. You can also let them know that you are available to answer any questions that they have.

2. Be nice to them – Be friendly and make them feel welcome. Ask their name and what types of business related things they are interested in. If you feel it is going well, ask if they would mind filling in an information sheet so that you can collect their e-mail, and phone numbers.

3. Answer questions – Make sure that your booth is always staffed by someone who knows what they are talking about so that they can answer questions if you are away. Listen to questions carefully and repeat them back to a customer to show you are genuinely listening and interested in what they have to say.

4. Follow up on leads – If customers give you their email address, keep in touch with them. You never know what might come of it.

When you are at a trade show, things can go well or they can go poorly. It always depends on how you are prepared and how you present yourself.

Companies Come Together for Greener Practices

DENVER, CO, July 30 — While most companies focus on the “almighty dollar,” a group of environmentally conscious businesses are coming together to make the world a greener place. The Green Merchant Alliance is composed of businesses, like Trade Show Emporium, who fund clean energy initiatives. Trade Show Emporium, an eco-friendly, Colorado-based company, is one of the alliance’s newest members.
By joining GMA, Trade Show Emporium unites with a consortium of businesses dedicated to reducing their environmental footprint by supporting renewable energy, public education, and environmental conservation. The Green Merchant Alliance donates a portion of the profits from Trade Show Emporium’s sales toward the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). The money from the RECs directly funds clean energy projects. Then the RECs are “retired” –meaning they can no longer be traded or sold.

“It is important to our company to support clean energy development,” says Trade Show Emporium President, Willis Wood, Jr. “Trade Show Emporium and its employees are extremely environmentally conscientious. We saw joining the Green Merchant Alliance as a way to strengthen our commitment to the Earth.”

The renewable energy generated by the Green Merchant Alliance displaces other conventional electricity generation, such as coal, oil, nuclear, or natural gas. For every kilowatt-hour of renewable electricity or renewable certificates bought by members of the Green Merchant Alliance, there is one less kilowatt-hour of conventional electricity generation.

Trade Show Emporium is based out of Denver, Colorado. Its mission is to provide honest, friendly consulting services to those in need of trade show exhibits, graphics, and accessories. Consumers expect a professional atmosphere. Trade show displays have become quite sophisticated. There are several styles of trade show displays to choose.
1. Table top displays. Today's tabletop displays are more streamlined and visually interesting than the old way of presenting information on a small surface. Table top displays come in different designs. Some are three-panel displays with graphics that Velcro into place. Some are smaller versions of pop up displays.

2. Banner stands. For small trade show exhibits, a banner stand may be all that is required. A banner stand is a frame that can hold a graphically designed banner in place. The graphics on the banner can tell the story of a company or the attributes of a product. Banners are good to use in trade show booths even if they are used as a part of a larger trade show display.

3. Portable trade show displays. There are trade show displays specifically made with portability in mind. The panels are easy to put together, many of them without even using any tools. They can be made with interchangeable parts, which give them a custom designed look. They can be shipped easily and inexpensively.

4. Pop up displays. These displays work well in trade show booths. They are made in such a way that a person can easily pull one into a trade show exhibit area and set up in a few minutes. The display is simply popped up and the graphics are put in place. There may be lighting as a part of the display, and the case may convert into a podium. Pop up displays can be table top displays and are always portable.

5. Backlit displays. Any type of display that can be set up with back-lighting will be more appealing to exhibit-goers. The light not only draws attention to the display. It also brightens the colors of the graphics and emphasizes the information given on the display. Backlit displays come in all the different models of trade show displays.

6. Modular displays. As one might assume from the name, modular displays are made up of many different parts. There might be banner walls, computer stations, and plenty of counter space. With modular displays, trade show exhibits can be arranged to suit the changing needs of the businessperson.

7. Custom displays. When trade show exhibits are seen as important investments in a business, custom displays are often used. These displays can be as elaborate as desired. They can incorporate as many design features as can effectively get the sales points across to the customers. Custom designed booths have a contemporary showroom appeal with large graphics and décor. Many are self-contained within the trade show.

Trade Show Display Lighting Hints and Tips

Because the standard florescent lighting used at trade shows can be harsh on your displays, using your own equipment to light your display is imperative. Lighting your exhibit properly is vital if you want to put forward a professional, streamlined appearance to potential customers. Trade show vendors often err by either using simple lighting or not using any lighting at all. The lighting you use for your display may make the difference between people stopping at your display or moving on to another.
Proper yet unique lighting will create a welcoming environment and help to attract potential customers. You must remember a few things if you're planning to purchase lights for your trade show display. Although many display sets may come with lights pre-attached, you will have to first contact the trade show venue to ensure that the use of such lights are in accordance with their rules.

A frequent concern for trade show venues is the potential a fire hazard because of excessive lighting. Because many trade shows last all day, the lights may be on for twelve hours or more at a time. It is important to use lights that are designed to be on for long periods of time in order to prevent the lights from overheating. You must contact the venue before purchasing any type of display lighting or any lighting that comes with your display. It's important for all vendors to adhere to lighting guidelines so that their displays don't get shut down.

Once you have your lights approved by the trade show venue, you need to begin to plan the lighting pattern for your display. A well-lit display will attract more potential customers than a poorly lit display. Lighting is an affordable method for making your display more presentable and bringing in additional traffic. When you are configuring your lighting, you should be knowledgeable about the many options available for lighting your display.

By implementing striking lighting -- including backlighting or lighting up a booth from ground-mounted fixtures -- you can create a dynamic, breathtaking appearance for your display that will set it apart from the run-of-the-mill displays at the trade show. To attract customers, you will want emphasize on specific areas of your booth with specialized lighting.

An effective way to make your display stand out from the crowd is to use dimensional lighting. A simple way to give your exhibit a dimensional appearance that is both unique and appealing is by placing lights in multiple locations within the display. Lights that change color will also attract customers by making your booth stand out from the others. Covering your light with a color filter or making use of a color wheel will give your display a distinct and dynamic appearance.

Portable Trade Show Booth: Face Of Your Business

To advertise their products and services in a unique manner, many companies participate in exhibitions these days. Trade shows attract decision-makers, influence purchasing decisions, provide a point of contact for new customers, and make a lasting impression.
Think of your trade show display as the grand launch of your most valued new product or business service. Give customer prospects your best look and greet them with your most competent sales staff.

Here are the tips on how to succeed at your next trade show:

Pick the Right Shows – Select the trade shows that your targeted market prospects and competitors attend. Check out trade show directories on the Web. Get statistics for show attendance and a profile of attendees. Talk to former exhibitors about their trade show experience at the shows you select.

Plan Ahead –Determine the space size and dimensions of your trade show booth. Reserve a good location early for your booth by studying the floor plan. Avoid dead-end aisles, freight doors, poorly lit corners, obtrusive columns. Attendees usually turn right when they first enter the trade show exhibit hall and they look up so be sure to make your booth visible with dramatic overhead signage. Once you nail down your trade show booth number on the show management map, be aware of any booth rules and regulations that apply such as height limitations and any obstructions on show floor before planning your booth design.

Allow enough time to select, design and build a trade show display and take advantage of early show services discounts. You will be able to avoid costly rush charges and you are better able to insure against glitches. Identify the date of the trade show and also the move in date for your trade show display.

Set Objectives For Lead Development – Set trade show exhibit goals to reinforce your overall marketing objectives. Make sure the goals are reasonable and attainable, share them with your trade show exhibit team and set up systems to measure your results and validate your objectives.

Accurately qualify and measure your Return On Investment. There are software packages that allow you to identify a half dozen weighted multiple choice questions in advance that will determine how viable a client prospect is. You need to identify buyers, filter out those who are not qualified, and measure results. Rank your prospects as “ A” (highly qualified), “ B” (somewhat qualified), or “C” (poorly qualified) prospect. Have your sales force follow up on “A” leads immediately. Measure the results of these leads in stages from the number and dollar amount of proposals made to monies received from actual sales.

Build a Dramatic Display – Before deciding on what type of trade show booth you need, determine your space size requirements and determine the number of trade shows you will be exhibiting in the next 12 months. This information will help you decide whether to buy vs. rent. If you buy, there are three categories of trade show booths: custom, custom modular, and portable. Check out advantages and disadvantages of each. Light weight materials are less expensive to operate than the traditional all- wood displays. Use tension fabrics, woods, colored metal, layered graphics that use fewer shipping containers, have a current design trend look, and save on operating costs. Older traditional trade show exhibit booths can be obsolete because they are expensive to handle due to heavy weight, require larger size and number of crates to ship, and they are not consistent with current design trends.

Build Traffic by Being Creative– Start with a dramatic, attention-getting hanging sign. Upon entering the trade show exhibit hall the first thing attendees do is look up –Your overhead sign should have a unique design, shape and movement to it. Gobo lights traveling across a tension fabric can provide changing color and mesmerizing interest. New technologies bring high drama to your booth such as 3D video/laser image displays suspended above, your own interactive Website on large screen, robotics, holographics, waterscreen projections. Take advantage of your trade show exhibit supplier’s expertise on graphics, portability and cost management.

Recruit the Right Booth Staff – Although the sales function of your firm is usually fundamental to trade show exhibit booth staffing, you’ll want to make sure that you have representatives who match up well with the positions of those who visit your booth. If engineers visit your booth engage them with your engineer personnel. Also, make sure your staff knows how to engage, identify and qualify attendees as important leads, and dismiss those who are not key business prospects.

Send Pre-Show Notices to Attendees – Trade show exhibit surveys report that three quarters of show attendees make out their schedule for exhibit visits and seminar attendance in advance. Set up meetings with clients, prospects, and press ahead of time. Contact them months ahead through direct mail, email and personal phone calls. Give them your trade show booth number and location and have an incentive at your booth that will be of value to them. Link your incentive to a direct prospect benefit and make it redeemable only by visiting your trade show exhibit. One example is to cut a numbered gift certificate in two and send half of it in advance and have the remaining half available only at your booth.

Understand Show Services – You will need to have supplemental assistance from show services at the trade show exhibit hall. These are representatives and union laborers who provide a range of support services which include installation and dismantling, carpeting, furniture, lighting, phones, drayage and security. If you are aware of the nuances of these services and plan in advance you can save money while avoiding numerous pitfalls.

Control Costs – Consider weight when buying a trade show display. You save substantially on trade show exhibits using lightweight materials that reduce the size and number of shipping crates.

Follow Up Immediately –The hard work doesn’t end when the show closes – this is when you have to diligently follow up on all those sales leads. It’s best to respond to your top level “ A” prospects immediately after the show. After the “A” prospects are all contacted, go on to the “B” level prospects. Be sure to have a well-planned strategy to close sales with these prospects. Tradeshow industry research shows that sales leads from a tradeshow are closed in half the time and at almost half the cost as leads from other sources

Build Flexibility into Your Trade Show Display

Unless you are a world renowned corporation with a multi-million dollar budget set aside for a one–of-a-kind trade show display, with multiple levels and every conceivable bell and whistle, you would be smart to select a less expensive, high quality, well crafted component- based custom exhibit that offers not only dramatic style but also flexibility.
In today’s trade show environment, exhibiting in multiple trade shows has become a reality. Being able to expand or contract your national trade show booth to fit into a series of national, regional and local trade show floors is important. Current trade show exhibitors need to creatively re-use their trade show booth in a variety of trade shows rather than attending a single national show. A significant factor, then, in saving trade show exhibitors time, money and convenience is to select a trade show booth that offers scalability without sacrificing quality.

The good news is that with the innovation of hi-tech materials that are lighter weight, easily transportable and durable, the smart exhibitor is not only able to have a flexible, high quality booth but also reduce the cost of their trade show exhibiting budget by at least one half.

Here are a few suggestions for today’s exhibitor who wants to select a high quality trade show booth that is flexible enough to handle multiple trade shows:

1. Own a library of components - not just a single trade show exhibit. Select smart, versatile components to handle your ever-changing needs. Modular components are like building blocks. They offer various assemblies with their parts being interchangeable. The booth can be expanded or contracted depending on the marketing needs of the exhibitor’s specific trade show. Look for integrating panels and beams that pack well and fit together uniformly, efficiently and seamlessly.

The use of interchangeable parts allows you to re-configure your booth – If you use interchangeable parts that fit together in new ways, you can achieve a whole new design and image without making a major investment in a new exhibit.

2. Resist damage by selecting components that are strong, durable and pack well. The key to damage control is in the packaging and packing of component parts. Select custom-designed cases with partitions to protect your components. Panels that are packed in tracks so they are not touching are better able to resist breakage. The use of individual cases and reusable packing envelopes that are smooth on the inside and corrugated on the outside protect your parts from scratching and chipping. Over time, your repair cost savings can be substantial.

3. Use lightweight, thin panels or thicker panels that have a honeycomb core to reduce your shipping costs and lessen the number of shipping crates. You will save money with your transportation carrier, install & dismantle company, and show-site drayage handlers.

4. Select compact and flexible elements that require less storage space. Whenever possible, choose component cases that are stackable and compact and thus limit your exhibit storage costs.

5. Use flat and durable components that resist stain and require less refurbishment. Aluminum posts and parts, translucent materials that resist scratches, and vinyl and washable nylon fabrics are all good examples of stain resistant components.

6. Experience the touch and feel of your exhibit assemblies before you buy. Test your exhibit’s structure for tightness and stability.

Trade show displays; rental vs lease or purchase

TRADE SHOW DISPLAYS;RENTAL VS PURCHASING OR LEASING

In recent years exhibitors have seen the cost to attend tradeshows sky rocketed by leaps and bounds. With this said, more and more exhibitors are searching for ways to cut costs. To this end many budget conscious exhibitors are turning to companies that provide turn-key rental booth programs. This turn-key rental program affords the client the luxury of a full custom booth at about a fraction of the cost.
To name a few, here are some advantages of trade show rental program

1-No storage fees for rental items
2-No refurbishment cost on booth
3-Changeable imagery from show to show whether through components or graphics
4-Tremendous savings in time-consuming chores of custom booth coordinating and preparation and above all your budget

First, it was the small exhibitors who would take advantage of such program, but now, even the larger and more seasoned exhibitors are renting. Why? Savings on Transportation, Storage cost, Less time-consuming . Overall, a great budget booster. Imagery is one of the main things companies endeavor to uphold, but gradually changes in the industry have shown many participants the advantages of going the rental way without sacrificing company image or quality nor integrity of display booth.

Another aspect of this rental program is that some components can be customized and purchased, while others may be rented. This brings us to our next level of renting "Multi-rental".

MULTI-RENTAL is basically where an exhibitor has more than 5 shows to attend but do not wish to own the properties . Instead of purchasing the booth they simply commit to three or more shows, leaving the refurbishment, and the storage to the exhibit house. Once again a big money saver! Advice: if there is more than 5 shows a year then its best to purchase the booth. This is done in two different ways. Lease the booth with a buy out and outright purchase the booth.

LEASING your next trade show booth has a major advantage as opposed to purchasing the booth. There may be some tax advantage to the leasing program, BUT- PLEASE DO TALK TO YOUR TAX CONSULTANT ON THIS MATTER. The disadvantages of this are the following:

1-Monthly payments must be made with interest
2-The booth is your responsibility all storage and refurbishments will have to be paid by you the exhibitor
3-Depending on how long your payment terms are you may be ready for a new look with before your payments are up.

Many exhibit houses are now trying to provide rental for the exhibitor; however, not all are successful due to lack of rentable components. They tend to use the simplest solution which is an aluminum system. This system tends to get you to the show but may not get you the custom look you are looking for. Good rental booth consist of custom components mixed with a modular system or rentable components that has integrity, quality and that will uphold your company image. Some exhibit houses may even have the latest looks like stretch fabric components . This will definitely give you a custom look especially with the your own graphics. Stay away from that run-of-the-mill scenario so that one exhibiting company does not look like the other exhibitor. To all tradeshow exhibitors ..note..your rental should have a custom feel to it, after-all your company is unique and your booth should reflect that.

Eight Ways to Control Trade Show Display Costs

From time to time, clients ask how they can keep control of trade show exhibit costs without diluting their exhibit impact. Here are several suggestions to help keep trade show display expenditures in line:
1. Consider renting a trade show booth rather than buying one. Renting a trade show exhibit applies only if you are planning a one time or occasional trade show appearance or if you have a simultaneous trade show in another part of the country that conflicts with your exhibit schedule. It does not make economic sense to rent a trade show display if you plan to exhibit more than three times in a given year. Be sure to rent a booth that will fit into the size of the exhibit space. Renting will save you not only on trade show booth construction costs but also the expense of warehousing your display after the trade show is over.

2. Upgrade your existing trade show booth. If you choose not to rent, you can upgrade your older booth by changing its graphics, relaminating color panels, and redesigning structural elements. This is a much more cost-effective way than starting from scratch.

3. Invest in a pre-owned trade show display. If you do not already have an existing trade show exhibit booth to upgrade, you can find pre-owned trade show exhibits that are greatly reduced from their original cost. Many trade show exhibit houses offer top quality pre-owned exhibits that are well maintained and easily adaptable to new signage, often affording reductions in exhibit design time and construction costs by more than half. You also have options on size, design, scope and price similar to trade show booth rentals with a variety of style and dimension options. Perhaps with little more than a customized graphics upgrade your trade show exhibit can be “out the door and on the floor” in a matter of weeks.

4. Consider a lightweight trade show exhibit. A lightweight exhibit will reduce operating costs such as freight, drayage, and storage. Select a trade show display that packs easily and is uncomplicated to install and dismantle. A custom modular or custom portable trade show exhibit can have the look of a custom exhibit, while reducing operating costs by 50 to 90 percent.

5. Pack extra supplies. When your installation and dismantle company installs your exhibit at your trade show, you’ll find that emergency repairs and materials replacements often are costly. So keep a backup supply box filled with items that may need to be replenished at the trade show. Include power cords, tools, light bulbs, Velcro, scissors and duct tape.

6. Plan well in advance. This will help you avoid unnecessary rush charges from not scheduling adequate lead time for the trade show display’s graphic design and production requirements.

7. Set up the trade show display during pre-show week days. Avoid costly weekend and overtime labor costs on the trade show floor. Early trade show booth assembly also helps you to avoid last minute glitches that run up the tab.

8. Understand trade show services. You will frequently require supplemental assistance from trade show services at the trade show exhibit hall. These are representatives and union laborers who provide such support services as installation and dismantling, carpeting, furniture, lighting, phones, drayage and security. If you are aware of the nuances of these charges for trade show services and plan in advance you can save money while avoiding numerous pitfalls.

Experience is the best teacher in keeping trade show exhibit costs under control. If your display team has limited know-how, tap into the wealth of knowledge available from the staff of a reputable trade show exhibit house. Also do your research on trade show exhibit company websites for industry insider tips.

Make your Trade Show Displays Greener

Make your trade show displays greener and attract people to it. The size and location of the booth, marketing materials to be used and the time line of operation, every aspect needs a strategic approach. However, mere planning does not promise for best results. It is the trade show displays that have a major role in the success of your trade show presence. Hence, creating displays for your trade stall needs a keen attention. Only if they work that your trade stall see a great number of consumer foot falls. To this end, it helps you in making leads, generate brand awareness and produce better brand impact.

Now, there are different types of displays like Downing Display, Expo Display, Nimlok Display, Nomadic Display, Fabric Displays and several others. They come in forms of portable exhibits, table top displays, banner stands, pop up displays, folding frame, backlit light box and variety of options. However, they have the same purpose of attracting more and more audiences to the Expo Booth.

Get to know the aspects that can make your trade show displays work wonders -
Select graphics carefully:

One must use graphics for say in the downing display from their own products or marketing literature. This helps the branding image of a company. The rule of thumb is that simple, bold and clear images should be used for they are more effective for brand remembrance. Abstract, highly embellished, or confusing art may be aesthetically great but does not relate to the audiences easily.

Colour scheme used:

Colours play an important role in creating an identity for any brand. To lend a professional image, create a coordinated appearance for your trade show downing displays. Limit your color usage to only three varieties for the display elements and table coverings - such as gray, white, and blue. This also gives a specific appeal that lets your products or services depicted on the displays stand out prominently.
Text Layouts:

The text layouts on the trade show Downing Display should be large enough to be read from a considerable distance. For better visibility, the text should be placed on the upper half of your display design. This enables the people standing at the back of many others comfortably view it. Again, text should be generally avoided on textured displays for it cause trouble to read.
So, take these fundamental points into consideration while designing your trade show downing display to make an effective impression on the audiences.

Xpressions and Trade Shows

Trade shows have today become an important part of the promotional campaign of a business.
